We celebrated a beautiful Ash Wednesday Mass this morning, Wednesday, February 14th, and marked the start of the Lenten season.
It was a full church with students, staff, and guests from CCHS, St. Joan of Arc School & Parish, and St. Joseph Parish. School Mass seems to be a bit more special when we see students from kindergarten through high school seniors raise their voices in worship together.
Today's readings and prayers were offered by both Central Catholic and St. Joan of Arc students.
Central Catholic students, along with Deacon Randy and Fr. Don King, offered ashes and communion to everyone in attendance.
These joint worship opportunities allow younger students to see "big kids" actively practicing their faith and for the "big kids," they are reminded that little eyes are always watching so setting a positive example is important.

We also want to thank Fr. Don for his personalized homily. He made it easy for everyone from 1-101 to remember the symbolism of receiving ashes, that they are intended to remind us that each of us sins but that if we are sorry and seek forgiveness, our Heavenly Father welcomes us with open arms.
