Smithville proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 21) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-39 win over Crestwood.

Meanwhile, Canton Central Catholic came tearing into Friday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 63-41 margin over Liberty. Canton Central Catholic pushed the score to 55-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Liberty cut but never quite recovered from.

Smithville's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Canton Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
