STEM and Health Day at Our Lady of Peace with Walsh University
The Our Lady of Peace-Walsh University STEM and Health Day is a collaboration between Our Lady of Peace and Walsh Professors Eugenia Whitt of the education department and Yanmei Xu of the Sociology Department. As part of their service-learning coursework, about 40 Walsh University students spent the afternoon at Our Lady of Peace. Walsh students shared lunch with students and talked to the Our Lady of Peace Students in small groups. The day ended with a popcorn social with games, and time for positive interaction. In between, the Walsh students lead hands-on learning for the Our Lady of Peace Students in the areas of Math, Science, Social Studies, Healthy Eating, Hygiene, and Physical Activity. This is the third year for this particular activity and is part of a long-standing relationship with Walsh University, which benefits the elementary students and university students, as well as the faculty and staff of OLOP.
