Oct. 25, 2023

Here's a look at this week's games:

No. 9 Middlefield Cardinal (6-4) at No. 8 Canton Central Catholic (6-4)
Division VI, Region 21

What to watch: Both teams own the same record, but Central has played the tougher schedule. Facing Division I Jackson, Division II Perry, and playing — and beating — Division III Alliance has prepared the Crusaders for what they hope is a deep postseason run. Central won three of its four games and six of eight after an 0-2 start. ... The Crusaders feature multiple playmakers. Daniel Boron has a team-leading 11 TD runs and six TD receptions. Andrew Neal also has six TD catches. QB Brennan Betz has thrown 13 TD passes and rushed for five scores. Grady Noggle is coming off a game-high 116 yards rushing against rival St. Thomas Aquinas. ... Like Central, Middlefield Cardinal is making its fourth straight playoff appearance. The Huskies have lost in the first round each of the previous three seasons. ... Cardinal is coming off a 38-0 loss to 9-1. Kirtland. The only other time the Cardinals were shut out came in Week 1 against 10-0 Garrettsville Garfield, a 42-0 defeat.
