Athletics:
The boys tennis team played in the sectional tournament Tuesday at Wooster College. Winning their first round matches were freshmen Luke Harley and “Pete” Peters. Also winning their first round match were the doubles team of junior Eli Ehret and freshman Rocco Logozzo.
 
Lacrosse had a big win on Senior Night over Benedictine 14-1. Max Held led the team with 4 goals, followed by Ricky Salvino with 3, Conner Thomas and John Shew with 2 each. and Bryce Stahlneker, Dominic Bogdan, Isaac Ray with one apiece. Ricky Salvino, Bryce Stahlneker, Conner Thomas. Preston Scott and Dominic Bogdan all had assists. Rounding out the offense for the night were Connor Wentzel, Grady Noggle, Jaiso Inestroza, Kate Taylor, Rowan Benjamin, Perry Randau, and Zeke Koontz. The tough defense was led by goalie Rocco Ross, and assisted by John Fabek, John White, Brock Abbott, Limyerre Goodgame, Kasey Davis, and Wes Zuchegno.

Service Opportunities:
12 Helpers are needed for our last home track meet: SATURDAY, May 11, 8:30 AM to 12 PM. Helpers will be marking distances, writing times down, and line judging. Sign up and more info on Google Classroom.
 
St. Clement/Holy Family Festival is June 6th, 7th, and 8th. Volunteers are needed to help and they need to know soon if they have helpers or not. QR code to sign up and more info is on GC. Service hours will count for next year.
 
Recess Program at First Christian Church in Canton is this Friday, May 10th. Volunteers arrive by 5:30, You will be fed and you will babysit either a child with disabilities or their sibling until 9:00. If you attend, you need to be able to stay the duration of the event. See GC to sign up and for more info including the parent form if this is your first time.
 
This Friday, May 10th, is the Community Closet/Meal St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, across the street from St. Mary’s in Massillon, from 4 - 6:30 pm. Helpers are needed to sort clothes for the Community Closet and serve the meal.
 
Attention Seniors:
Any senior interested in applying for the Buell & Oliveri Need Based Scholarship should pick up an application in the main office. Applications are due next Monday, May 13th, to the main office.
 
Campus Ministry:
Any freshmen, sophomores or juniors who are interested in going on the mission trip to Cincinnati this June and who have NOT signed up, the cut off date is THIS Friday, May 10th. Please stop in and see Deacon Randy or Mrs. Cramer to pick up a flier with the contact
information on it. A parent or guardian must register by the end of day Friday.
 
Senior Graduation Walk:
Attention Seniors! Anyone who attended one of our Catholic elementary partner schools, you are welcome to do a graduation walk at the school you attended. Please sign up on Google Classroom for your elementary school if you plan to attend. Graduation walks are:
Monday, May 13th: SPJ at 11:30 am and St. Joan of Arc at 2:00 pm
Tuesday, May 14th: St. Paul at 9:30 am and St. Michael at 11:00 am
Thursday, May 16th: St. Mary at 12:30 pm.

Mental Health Week:
Mental Health Week - 57 million adults experience mental health problems according to the National Institute for Mental Health. The CDC says that nearly 50% of adolescents experience mental health challenges. This is something that impacts all of us, either directly or indirectly. We shouldn’t be afraid to talk about it!
 
May Crowning:
“Day In May” ~ May Crowning will take place Sunday, May 19th @ the CCHS Grotto. They are hoping to have each class represented by 1 or more persons. The event begins at 2:30 with the Rosary, followed by Mass at 3:00 pm and the May Crowning. Sign up on Google Classroom.
 
Educational Tour:

Today's Wellness Wednesday tip from the Healthy Heart Club is to load up on fruits and veggies! At least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables are recommended per day for maximum health benefits!
 
Enrollment:
As we begin to wrap up the school year, we are seeing an increase in families touring and students shadowing. Please make every effort to welcome them and take some time to talk with them/make them feel special. Central students are amazing! Let's show them what makes us THE BEST!

Mental Health Week - Did you know that 42% of high school students feel persistently sad or hopeless? 21% have symptoms of anxiety. Our mental health champions want you to know that most people struggle with mental health, even though it might not always show. But remember, you are NOT alone. When you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, take a breath, slow down, and talk to someone. It’s okay to talk about it!

Athletics:
Central lacrosse brought home another win last tonight, beating Willoughby South 13-2. Ricky Salvino led the scoring with 6 goals, Conner Thomas had 3 goals, and Grady Noggle, Rowan Benjamin, Max Held and Isaac Ray each had one goal. Assists were provided by Conner
Thomas, Bryce Stahlneker and Preston Scott. Rocco Ross had a great game at goalie, and was assisted on the defense by Isaac Ray, John White, John Fabek, Wes Zuchegno and Kasey Davis. In addition, Connor Wenzel. Dominic Bogdan, Emerson Schwiger, Jeiso Inestroza, and Perry Randau also contributed to the victory. Congratulations to Ricky Salvino who now has the Crusader record for most goals in a single season with 71.
 
Yesterday at Massillon the boys and girls track team competed against Massillon and Hoban. Placing for the girls were Caroline Crane, Lily Bentzel, Celeste Levengood, Allsion Ries, Lily Belden, Isis Hall, Anna Winkhart, Sara Schmidt, Talo Saipaia, Taylor Magee, and Lily Belden.
Placing for the boys were Drew Neal, Aidan Nasvadi, Grant Eberhardt, Easton Miller, Carlos Cantera-Quintero, Luca Donadeo, Jeremiah Watts, Brayden Finan, Ben Reese, and Matt Darrow.
 
Athletic Events:
JV Baseball plays St. Vincent St. Mary at home starting at 5:00
Softball plays Ashtabula St. John in tournament play at home starting at 5:00

Camp Invention @ St. Michael’s, June 10th - June 14th, Mon—>Fri, 8:15 am - 3:15 pm. 4 volunteers are needed. (2 more) 40 hours of Service will be given. You must be able to commit to being there all 5 days for the whole time. Sign up and more info on GC.
 
Volunteers are needed to help with St.Clement's Festival, June 6, 7, & 8th. These hours would count for next year's service requirements. (Seniors I am including this on your page just in case you wanted to do it even though you will be done!) More information is on GC including a QR code to scan for you to sign up to help. You must scan this QR code to sign up to help so that the festival staff will know the details of when you would be helping.
 
This Friday is recess at First Christian Church on Market. Check GC later today for more information and to sign up.
 
Bingo cleanup is at 9:00 pm in the SJA Social Hall.

Mental Health Awareness Week – According to our community partner, Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health, “ONE out of SIX students, age 6-17, experience a mental health issue each year. They’ve seen a 32% INCREASE in teens diagnosed with anxiety and depression. No one is alone when facing these issues. During lunch, our student mental health champions are asking each student to stop by their table in the cafeteria. Write an encouraging note or inspiring message and you’ll receive a special gift!

Athletics:
Reminder to members of boys and girls track teams, the meet today vs. Massillon and Hoban will be held at Massillon Middle School, not at the high school.
 
The CCHS lacrosse team held out against a tough Southeast team, winning 13-12 Monday night. A strong defense during the 4th quarter made the difference, with John White, Brock Abbott, John Fabek, Isaac Ray, Wes Zuchegno, and Limyerre Goodgame causing many turnovers. Rocco Ross defended the goal with numerous saves. Ricky Salvino and Conner Thomas led the scoring with 5 goals each, and Bryce Stahlnaker, Grady Noggle, and Dominic Bogdan each scored one goal. Assists were provided by Bryce Stahlnaker, Conner Thomas, Ricky Salvino, Dominic Bogdan, and Grady Noggle. Congratulations go out to Conner Thomas who scored his 100th goal as a Crusader.

Mental Health Week:
This week, May 6-10, has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Week. This is an important issue all year but this week we will be highlighting stunning facts and helpful tips to address mental health.
 
Each year 2-3 students are selected to be mental health champions, they participate in county-wide projects and come up with ways to encourage people to talk about their mental health issues. Our 2024 champions were Gabe Grisez, Madie Heiser, and Syd Turner.
Congratulations to our 2025 champions, Addison Burgess, Isis Hall, and Jonathan Stangl. They each hope that we can help END the STIGMA and TALK about mental health.

Track: 
Friday night at Fairless, the boys track team placed 7th. Placing for the Crusaders were Brayden Finan, Drew Neal, Aidan Nasvadi, Easton Miller, Grant Eberhardt, Carlos Cantera-Quintero, Jeremiah Watts, Luca Donadeo, Carter Competty, Mark Parham, Adam Frech, Andrew Lepley, Ben Reese, and Tommy Grisez. The girls team placed 7th. Placing were Isis Hall, Karina Williams, Lily Belden, Celeste Levengood, Sara Schmidt, Allison Ries, Lily Bentzel, Taylor Magee, Anna Winkhart, and Caroline Crane.
